Short Takes Supervalu cutting inventory and store costs to boost results Supervalu, Eden Prairie, Minn., is getting tough on inventory and store-related costs, and in the company's third quarter conference call, President and CEO Craig Herkert said the company is pursuing an aggressive SKU rationalization program that will continue into 2011. Hannaford joins local dairy initiative In partnership with local dairy farmers, Scarborough, Maine-based Hannaford Supermarkets has joined the Keep Local Farms initiative throughout its 171-store New England and New York operation.
