Dear Supporter,
"Life's most urgent question is: What are you doing for others?"
- Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Today, as we pay tribute to the late Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we recall not only his tireless efforts for civil rights, but his legacy of compassion for all humanity. The above quote reflects his giving spirit--one we must embrace as we unite our thoughts and actions to benefit the survivors in Haiti.
After a deadly earthquake devastated this poverty-stricken island nation last week, we asked you, our community that cares, to reach out to the millions left homeless, injured, and without food or water. We are pleased to report that on Friday we sent your donations-to-date, totaling $125,045, to help survivors Haiti. 100% of this funding went directly to Partners In Health, one of the largest non-governmental health care providers in the country, to support their first-line response. PIH has been receiving and treating injured Haitians from Port-au-Prince at their nearby medical facilities, and trucking in medicine, bandages and other supplies for the thousands in need.
With three million people affected by this quake--many of them already suffering extreme poverty, chronic hunger and disease--the need for your support and continued generosity is vital. Please consider making a first-time or additional direct contribution of $15, $25, $50 or $100 with the purchase of our Help Earthquake Survivors in Haiti Gift That Gives More™. Your donation is 100% tax-deductible in the U.S. Don't delay: The people of Haiti are in dire need today.
You can also help aid earthquake survivors simply by placing an order in our do-good store. Today through Tuesday, January 19th (11:59 p.m. PT) every order will generate an extra donation to go to the relief efforts in Haiti...all at no additional cost to you. As with all contributions to disaster funds, payments will be sent weekly to ensure survivors are helped as quickly as possible.
