Ovnis durante la decada

2000 - The Illinois Triangles

The year 2000 brought us the compelling accounts of the Illinois Triangles. Beginning almost like turning a calendar page, a cold January 5 would bring miniature golf course owner Melvin Knoll out to check the situation at his business.

Arriving at the course, he immediately noticed something unusual: a bright light glowing near the horizon. After he checked his course and finding all well, he returned to his truck to make the trip back home.

Before he could proceed, he could not help but notice the light he had seen earlier was now much larger and brighter, and moving in his direction.

He saw red lights beaming toward the ground, coming from a UFO which he estimated at six stories high, and an incredible football-field in length. He could also see the inside of the ship was lit from the inside.

The object slowly and silently moved toward the southwest. Knoll immediately reported his sighting to the Highland Police Department, whose dispatcher radioed ahead to the object's possible next location, St. Clair County.

St. Clair notified the next possible location, Lebanon. At 4:10 PM, the first confirmed sighting by a policeman would occur. The object was sitting in midair, lit by two lights. The policeman began to race southeast, hoping to encounter the UFO. As he drove, the two lights appeared to merge into one.

The officer reported his sighting to St. Clair Emergency Dispatch, and requested alerts be sent to Millstadt, and Dupo. Millstadt officer Craig Stevens, after monitoring the report from Highland, would make an official sighting report, and his report would soon be followed by other official reports.

Reports of the unknown triangle would continue for several days, and a world-wide press event was in progress. Police Officer's reports were posted on the Internet by Chief Ed Wilkerson, who soon had to stop all press events due to the fact that the everyday operations of the department were being disrupted.

The Illinois sightings of 2000 were an auspicious debut for the decade to come. There was never a conventional explanation for the Illinois triangle sightings.

2000 - The Sharon Rowlands Photograph

A major UFO event occurred in the tiny village of Derbyshire, United Kingdom. Housewife Sharon Rowlands, who only recently had received a camera, filmed what would be considered one of the best pieces of UFO evidence ever.

She captured 6-and-a-half-minutes of a UFO moving over her village. Kiviat executive producer Robert Kiviat found Mrs. Rowlands' film while scouring the internet, contacted her and bought her film for over $30,000 dollars.

Mrs. Rowlands stated that: "I've watched UFO programs and if there is such a thing, this is as good a photograph as you're going to get. I was a complete and utter disbeliever, but seeing this has made me think twice. It was huge and through the lens it looked like it was going to hit me. I couldn't believe it - it's like nothing else I've ever seen."

2001 - Airborne Ring over Salt Lake City, Utah

On the first day of March, 2001, a truck driver in Salt Lake City, Utah, was making a routine delivery. He was soon distracted by a bright flash in the sky.

Looking up to find the source, he was amazed to see a ring-shaped object in the sky. He carried a digital camera with him. He grabbed it, and took several photographs.

Shortly thereafter, the ring disappeared, covered up by the clouds. Fortunately, there were two other witnesses to the unknown object. The truck driver's photographs cause quite a stir in the UFO community. The driver was called for an interview by Art Bell, of Coast to Coast AM. The object has never been identified as any known conventional object.

2002 - UFO Photographed over Tyrone, Pennsylvania

In late 2002, the National Reporting Center reported the taking of a photograph over Tyrone, Pennsylvania. The event occurred on Sunday, October 20. Two color photographs were taken of an unknown object on an Olympus digital camera, and were investigated by researcher Stan Gordon.

Though excited by his photographs, the witness was a reluctant one, but did relate the details of his sighting via email.

While hiking through the woods on Ice Mountain, near the town of Tyrone, the witness was returning to his vehicle when he saw a bright light. At first, he thought he was looking at an airplane. But then, the object suddenly stopped in the sky. He then noticed an orange-red haze around the object.

Suddenly, before his eyes, an extremely bright, blue-white light beamed to the ground. The witness stated that the beam was not a normal flashlight beam. The photographer made the following statement.

"This was no searchlight. Even a well focused searchlight tends to diffuse with distance, but this light was a tight, bright, beam from top to bottom."

As he continued to watch the object, it would dim, and then brighten. It was of a circular-shape as it hovered, but as it began to move, it appeared more "egg-shaped." Within a moment, the object shot straight up at an amazing speed, never to be seen again.

2003 - Wisconsin - Disc Photographed

A very compelling photograph of an unknown object was taken over the city of Weyauwega, Wisconsin. The eyewitness and photographer did not wish to disclose the exact location to keep the privacy of a friend intact. The witness's son was also a witness to the UFO.

The man was taking pictures of his son, who was sledding in the snow. It was late evening, and the son noticed some lights in the sky. Two photographs were taken of an object that looked similar to a balloon, except for its lights, which seemed to cycle through several colors.

The UFO passed almost directly over the heads of the two witnesses, heading in a southerly direction. As the object moved over them, it appeared to be more of a disc-shape. The son constantly queried his father about the UFO, but his father could not give him an adequate explanation. Neither was anyone else.

2004- Mexican Military Footage

On March 5, 2004, a Mexican Air Force Merlin C26A bi-motor airplane was performing routine duties to detect drug smuggling airplanes in a anti-narcotics operation. The plane had a high-tech FLIR STAR ZAPPHIR II and a RADAR AN/PS 143 BRAVO VICTOR 3, which implements infrared video.

Mayor Magdaleno Jasso Núñez was the commander of the plane, Lt. Mario Adrian Vasquez was FLIR operator, and Lt. German Ramirez was radar operator - all three were members of the 501 Aerial Squadron.

At 17:00 hours, the Merlin detected unknown traffic at 10,500 feet over Ciudad del Carmen. The plane then flew closer to the unknown target to record it with their equipment. They reported their unknown target to base.

The objects soon disappeared, only to reappear, this time following the Merlin. Soon, the film would be released world-wide, and a full scale investigation followed.

Proponents of the recording praised the footage as absolute proof of the existence of extraterrestrial intelligence. However, debunkers claimed that the multiple lights filmed by the infrared camera were only reflections of ground fires. See more details of this historic case at Mexican Military Films UFOs.

This case is unique in that it was a perfect example of the sharing of information. The Mexican Air Force, government, and private UFO investigators jelled to investigate the events over Mexico in March, 2004.

2005 - Fighter Jet Chases Triangle UFO over Oklahoma

A witness who described himself as a competent, educated scientist of sound mind and character, made an extraordinary claim of an event he witnessed on May 30, 2005. In the city of Noble, Oklahoma, the witness was taking a nightly walk when he observed a triangular UFO moving across the sky from north to south.

The sky was clear with several miles of visibility as the craft moved at about 500 mph, making not a sound. The UFO was not alone, as the witness saw a plane several miles behind the object, evidently in full pursuit. The plane was traveling at an estimated speed of 600-700 mph.

Both objects were traveling toward the witness, and as they came closer, he could hear the jet's engines. He could clearly see that the UFO was toying with the plane - as the plane got closer to the UFO, the object would speed up and distance itself from the jet. The UFO also made maneuvers that the plane was not capable of.

Soon, the UFO sped away from the jet completely. The jet turned to the north-northeast and flew out of sight. The witness made the observation that the three lights on the triangle were not an equal distance from each other. The lights of the object were a milky white, while the jet's lights were a bright red, green, and white.

The National UFO Reporting Center investigated the sighting, and the only object they found that could have accounted for the UFO would be an F-22 "Raptor" from Tinker Air Force Base, but it bears the traditional navigational lights, and can therefore be ruled out.

2006 - The O'Hare Airport UFO

The reports of a UFO over Chicago's O'Hare Airport in 2006, dominated UFO news for quite some time.

The first report from O'Hare was made by an employee, who reported to the National UFO Reporting Center that he, along with some fellow workers, saw an unknown object hovering over the airport for about seven minutes on November 7, 2006.

A bizarre element of the event was that the object shot up and away, creating a strange hole in the sky. After this report, the sighting received little, if any, press until January of 2007.

Chicago Tribune writer Jon Hilkevitch, with information gleaned from the NUFORC, wrote an article about the case in January, 2007. The case would now be the subject of not only Internet discussion, but mainstream media.

Several employees of the airport had come forward with their eyewitness testimony, but United Airlines spokespersons denied the incident. This did not sit well with the eyewitnesses, or UFO buffs.

Finally, the Federal Aviation Administration admitted that a control tower employee had received a UFO report from an employee, who requested information about an "elliptical-saucer-shaped craft" hovering over Concourse C. This report was considered comical by tower employees.

The sighting was originally written off as a "weather phenomena." More details of the sighting soon emerged - the object was dark gray in color, disc-shaped, and clearly seen in the clouds above O'Hare.

The object was estimated at 24 feet in diameter. One eyewitness made the following statement.

"I tend to be scientific by nature, and I don't understand why aliens would hover over a busy airport," said a United mechanic who was in the cockpit of a Boeing 777 that he was taxiing to a maintenance hangar when he observed the metallic-looking object above Gate C17.

"But I know that what I saw and what a lot of other people saw stood out very clearly, and it definitely was not an [Earth] aircraft," the mechanic said.

Further investigation into the O'Hare case would determine that indeed, something unknown hovered over the busy airport, raising concern over air traffic safety. There were allegedly photographs taken of the UFO, but many fakes were sent around the Net. Not one of the photographs has been deemed authentic.

2007 - The Fayetteville, North Carolina Aliens

Cape Fear, North Carolina, certainly lived up to its name on January 8, 2007. Five fishing buddies would see UFOs near their favorite fishing bank, and a man and his son would encounter alien beings in a forest near their home. See my complete account of this case at Fayetteville, North Carolina Encounter.

Chris Bledsoe Sr. whom I have communicated with, was the chief character of a series of events that would bring an entire team of MUFON investigators to the scene. The details of the case would eventually be made into an hour-long special on an episode of "UFOs over Earth," presented by the Discovery Channel.

Bledsoe and three of his friends were fishing on the banks of the Cape Fear River. Bledsoe took a short walk away from the fishing spot, and saw three unknown objects in the sky. He ran back to tell the others what he had seen. He thought he had been gone about twenty minutes.

While Bledsoe was gone on his walk, his friends had become worried about him, and even drove down the road to find him. He was nowhere to be seen. Bledsoe has been gone for 3-4 hours!

Bledsoe's group soon saw the UFOs, which frightened them to the point of dropping their gear, and speeding away in their truck. When they made the first intersection, they saw a fourth object, much larger than the others - oblong and spiked.

When Bledsoe finally arrived home, he heard his dogs barking madly outside. He went out to see what was causing them to be so upset, and saw his Chesapeake Bay Retriever disappear into the woods, followed by the other dogs.

Bledsoe followed the group of dogs into the woods, and soon he was shocked to see a small being standing in the forest. He estimated its height at about 3 foot. It appeared to have been made from glass, and had red-colored eyes.

When his dogs met up with him, the being disappeared. At about the same time, Bledsoe's son saw two red orbs floating through the forest. Soon, two of the beings were seen as they emerged from the woods.

Bledsoe's encounter caused him great dismay - anxiety, stress, and bad headaches. He decided to tell his story and called MUFON. The MUFON team was very impressed with Bledsoe's story, and felt that he was reliable and honest.

His fishing companions were questioned, and their stories only validated what Bledsoe had stated about the sighting of the UFOs. Next, Bledsoe underwent regressive hypnosis under the guidance of Harvard graduate Michael O'Connell.

This session revealed that Bledsoe had been abducted by four, tall, alien beings. The smaller aliens encountered in the forest were children of these beings. Next Bledsoe would undergo a psychological examination, given by Psychiatric Social Worker, Debbie Gioia.

Bledsoe flew through the examination by Gioia, and had only one more hurdle to jump over, a simple lie detector test. MUFON was totally confident that Bledsoe would pass without a problem. But, this was not to be.

This final test was monitored by retired FBI analyst, Bob DrDak. The result were not good, but still believing in Bledsoe's account, the MUFON team felt that there must be a good reason for his failing the polygraph.

In the aftermath of his encounter, Bledsoe had exhibited doubts about the encounter, and wondered if he really saw what he thought he saw. This doubt could well have affected the findings of the polygraph. Possibly, a second polygraph would shed a more positive light on Bledsoe.

2008 - The Stephenville, Texas Sightings

In January of 2008, one of the decade's most celebrated UFO cases began. The sightings of giant UFOs, often chased by military craft, would create a media frenzy. Thousands of reporters, UFO buffs, and other interested parties would visit the farming community of Stephenville, Texas, wanting answers and wondering if this would be the one case that would tilt the scales to the UFO believers.

See my full account of this case at The Texas Sightings of 2008. Here is one of reports that got the ball rolling:

On 01-08-2008, at 6:15 PM, CST, my friends and I were watching the sunset when several strobes or flashing lights coming from the east at about 3500 feet and heading west toward Stephenville, Texas, were observed. Estimated speed was 2000 to 3000 MPH.

The strobes made several changes of flash patterns and configurations. The flight duration lasted about 3 minutes. The front two strobes were about 1/2 mile apart and the back ones were about 1 mile back from the front strobes.

The back side of the flashing lights came to a vertical flashing. Then there were 2 separate vertical flames about 1/4 mile apart for several seconds and the craft was gone.

We never head any noise from the craft! They headed west towards Abilene, Texas. Then about 10 minutes later, the craft was seen again. This time with 2 jets chasing it.

They were headed east towards south Ft. Worth, at about 4000 feet altitude. The jets were unable to catch up with the UFO, and went off into the distance at FULL throttle.

I am a pilot and have been flying for 30 years and have never seen anything like this. I also fly several times a week in the area. The craft is NOT from around these parts!

Many similar reports followed, and the press was overwhelmed with reports and interviews with eyewitnesses. MUFON joined the hunt, and assembled a team to visit Stephenville. Hundreds of eyewitnesses came forward with their reports, drawings, photographs, and lots of speculation.

Ultimately, when all the dust cleared, there was no doubt that something out of the ordinary happened in and near Stephenville, Texas. The military was involved, but to what extent we may never know. It is surmised that military jets were attempting to overtake the UFOs that flew over Texas. The Stephenville sightings are a land mark case in Ufology.

2008- The Needles, California Crash

On March 14, 2008, a group of sky watchers saw a turquoise colored, unknown object descending toward the earth near the town of Needles, California. This was not a meteorite - it was being chased by helicopters. According to the witnesses, the helicopters were successful in finding the object.

The information on this case comes from UFO investigator George Knapp. Knapp brought forth eyewitness Frank Costigan, former chief of security at LAX, and considered a top-notch witness.

He stated: "It was bright, bright enough that it illuminated the ground. It went behind a hill, and I waited to see if I could hear it crash because as big as it was, it was bound to make noise."

However, Costigan never heard a crash. KTOX Radio owner, David Hayes, saw dark-colored vehicles leaving the area of the crash. He could see that the first vehicle had government plates.

A third very important witness was also found. A man who lived in a houseboat on the river was eyewitness to the object crashing about 100 yards from the river. Soon, military helicopters arrived.

He added that one of the helicopters had a large hook on it. It grabbed the still glowing object, and whisked it away. Who knows where the object is today? See more at The Needles, California Crash.

2008- Astronaut Edgar Mitchell: UFOs are Real

On July 23, 2008, former Astronaut Edgar Mitchell shocked the world with the short but riveting statement: "UFOs are Real." Mitchell was being interviewed on Britain's Kerrang Radio show.

He asserted that the Roswell Crash was real, and that there was a well organized cover-up of facts relating to the crash. His statements had far reaching and permanent impact on the study of UFOs.

At the time of Mitchell's disclosure, the following statement was made.

The recent bombshell disclosures of Dr. Edgar Mitchell have set the Internet ablaze with articles, blogs, and forum discussion. Finally, a man who is respected highly, and a national hero, has with a somber, straight face told the world without reservation that we have been visited by UFOs, aliens are real, and our government is indeed, covering up this information.

See a complete report on the impact of Mitchell's statement at Astronaut Edgar Mitchell: UFOs are Real.

2009 - UFO Air Show in North Carolina

Another very compelling account of the extreme maneuverability of UFOs was investigated by the MUFON group. On August 12, a family was enjoying a day on the beach at Salter Path, North Carolina, when they saw what they thought was a bright star in the distance.

The heavenly object began to move, and soon a red object could be seen. It soon disappeared, and the white object began making spiraling moves in the sky. It moved close enough to the beach that it could seen as a disc-shaped object. Soon, it moved itself far from the beach, only to be replaced by a nearby, similar object.

Soon, the second object began to move away, and two military jets could be seen, apparently chasing the unknown objects. The family watched this activity for a full 45 minutes, witnessing a third military plane appear.

Before long, another type of craft could be seen over the lake. The family could make out two red lights on its sides, with a third white light in the center. They also stated that the bottom of the craft was glowing an orange-white color, and was similar to a beam aimed at the water.

There is no doubt that the family saw something out of the ordinary, but what? Were the planes from nearby Johnson Air Force Base? If so, what were they chasing? The family stated that they were very familiar with the different types of planes in the area, as they had visited the same beach for 19 years.

The members of the family stated that, without a doubt, the maneuvers and speeds shown by the unknown objects far surpassed the capabilities of earthly made craft. What was seen over Salter Path, North Carolina, remains a mystery.
