Avion sin ventanas

What would you think of a window-less airplane as your mode of transport? Airbus is accepting proposals, and giving the one it sees as best a planeful of money - well 30,000 Euros.

Airbus has narrowed the proposals down to 5 - and believe it or not, the window-less cabin made the list. If you are scratching your head and wondering why as I did it seems the suggestion from a team at a Spanish university feel that a plane built with a window-less passenger cabin would be more fuel efficient and eco-friendly.

Included in the other five proposals were also ways of being more fuel efficient or earth-friendlier while still maintaining window seats. Solar power, and using electric power for taxi-ing instead of jet fuel being two examples.

USA Today reported on all the details of Airbus' search for the best new concept, including a summary of the final 5 proposals that are in the running for the money.
