Estricta vigilancia.

Una monja pasa y me mira mientras voy escribiendo.

Me vigila.

In 1919 when the flu killed 40 million people there was this Doctor that visited the many farmers to see if he could help them combat the flu. Many of the farmers and their family had contracted it and many died.

The doctor came upon this one farmer and to his surprise, everyone was very healthy. When the doctor asked what the farmer was doing that was different the wife replied that she had placed an unpeeled onion in a dish in the rooms of the home, (probably only two rooms back then). The doctor couldn't believe it and asked if he could have one of the onions and placed it under the microscope. She gave him one and when he did this, he did find the flu virus in the onion. It obviously absorbed the virus, therefore, keeping the family healthy.

Now, I heard this story from my hairdresser in AZ. She said that several years ago many of her employees were coming down with the flu and so were many of her customers. The next year she placed several bowls with onions around in her shop. To her surprise, none of her staff got sick. It must work.. (And no, she is not in the onion business.)

The moral of the story is, buy some onions and place them in bowls around your home. If you work at a desk, place one or two in your office or under your desk or even on top somewhere. Try it and see what happens. We did it last year and we never got the flu.

If this helps you and your loved ones from getting sick, all the better. If you do get the flu, it just might be a mild case..

Whatever, what have you to lose? Just a few bucks on onions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Prevenir la H1N1

Prevent Swine Flu - Good Advice

Dr. Vinay Goyal is an MBBS,DRM,DNB (Intensivist and Thyroid specialist) having clinical experience of over 20 years. He has worked in institutions like Hinduja Hospital, Bombay Hospital, Saifee Hospital, Tata Memorial etc. Presently, he is heading our Nuclear Medicine Department and Thyroid clinic at Riddhivinayak Cardiac and Critical Centre, Malad (W).

The following message given by him, I feel makes a lot of sense and is important for all to know

The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it's almost impossible to avoid coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions. Contact with H1N1 is not so much of a problem as proliferation is.

While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1 infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps, not fully highlighted in most official communications, can be practiced (instead of focusing on how to stock N95 or Tamiflu):

1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications).

2. "Hands-off-the-face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (unless you want to eat, bathe or slap).

3. * Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't trust salt)... * H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/ nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.

4. Similar to 3 above, * clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. * Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti (very good Yoga asanas to clean nasal cavities), but * blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population. *

5. * Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C (Amla and other citrus fruits). * If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.

6. * Drink as much of warm liquids (tea, coffee, etc) as you can. * Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.

I suggest you pass this on to your entire e-list. You never know 20 who might pay attention to it - and STAY ALIVE because of it...

Que mandar en los mensajes de texto a tu pareja

There are many ways to be romantic with your partner; some are easier performed than others. Sending romantic text messages - other than the cost should your cell phone plan not include them - are one the cheapest and easiest ways to show your love, and depending on how often you send them, they can also be one of the most surprising and touching. But what do you send?

Romantic Text Message Idea #1: Scavenger Hunt

This idea may take a little bit of planning but it is well worth it. The night before you plan on sending your romantic text messages, place some chocolate kisses around your partner's home or another location you know they'll be frequenting. This could be as simple as hiding a kiss in their purse, desk drawer or glove box in their car. Make a note of each place you hide the kiss for the next day. Then, send a romantic text message that will encourage them to check the secret hiding place, such as, "I can't wait to kiss you again. Think you can take for 30 seconds for one? Then check your glove box."

Even more adventurous partners could make a whole day out of the romantic scavenger hunt, going so far as to make each kiss a clue as to where the next one is. From there, the romantic text messages could spell out hints, suggestions or just provide supportive commentary while your loved one seeks out their love tokens.

Romantic Text Message Idea #2: Why I Love You

When is the last time you told your partner that you love them? How about when you explained why you love them? For a truly memorable series of romantic text messages, start the first one with, "Why I Love You". Then throughout the rest of the day, send more romantic text messages that explain exactly why you love them in greatdetail.

Some ideas to get you started:

  • You bring out the best in me;
  • I feel comfortable being myself when I'm around you;
  • No one else has ever made me feel unique/cherished/______ like you do;
  • Your strength/integrity/______ inspires me to be a better person;
  • You are a rare gem that exemplifies kindness/trust/_____;
  • You've seen me at my best and my worst, yet love me anyway;
  • The way you show affection/caring/love/emotion/_____.

Romantic Text Message Idea #3: Quote Love Poetry

What says I Love You better than a great love poem? You could send a series of romantic text messages, listing out an entire poem. Or, you could use one of these short and sweet love poetry quotes for a romantic touch anytime.

  • "Love is not love that alters when it alteration finds." -Shakespeare
  • "A gentle word like a spark of light, Illuminates my soul, And as each sound goes deeper, It's YOU that makes me whole." -David G. Kelly
  • "Soul meets soul on lover's lips." -Percy Bysshe Shelly
  • "I ne'er was struck before that hour, With love so sudden and so sweet. Her face it bloomed like a sweet flower, And stole my heart away complete." -John Clare
  • "Accept, dear girl, this little token, And if between the lines you seek, You'll find the love I've often spoken— The love my dying lips shall speak." -Eugene Field

To help women and guys use texting to their advantage, Nicole Beland, features director of Women's Health magazine and relationship expert, offers the following tips on improving your text life.

Texting Don'ts

Don't guess. If a message is cryptic or vague, wait until you're face to face with the sender to ask what the heck they were talking about. Texts leave so much to the imagination that it's easy to let wishful thinking or insecurity take over. When you get a message that makes no sense, respond with "What?! Let's talk l8tr!" Then stifle your urge to analyze.

Don't over-abbreviate. You want to be brief in a text message, but stick with terms and symbols that most people know and use. If you try to make up new texting terms on the spot, you'll end up sending gibberish.

Don't be a tease. Text-flirting is all fun and games—provided that you're being honest about your feelings. Verbal flirting is such a blast that it's easy to get carried away. Over-do the Sex & the City style banter and you run the risk raising someone's expectations only to hurt his or her feelings or, worse, attract an unwanted admirer.

Don't text angry. Sure, you can express general frustration with a 'Grrrr…" or a "Humph" or an "Ugh," but pick up the phone to hash things out. Attempt to resolve a volatile situation in 25-character bursts and you'll create a hot mess that will be hell to clean up.

Don't be rude or break bad news. Breaking up via text may be efficient, but it isn't classy—and in a hyper-connected culture, a bad reputation can spread fast. Any type of textual bad behavior is likely to get around.

Texting Do's

Do text sweet nothings. With today's crazed schedules, it can be hard to pick up the phone or even send an email. A short text like "Hey, qt," or "Hope ur havin a gr8 day, " can make your significant other suddenly happier to see you when you get home. 52% of texters surveyed said they'd rather receive a "Thinking of You" message than any other kind.

Do text long-distance. According to the AT&T survey, 15% of daters in long-distance relationships send texts more often than they email or call. Texting can create a surprising sense of connection because it's so immediate—you can send messages the second they pop into your mind. Even though you're miles away, your partner feels right there.

Do text before a first date. 34% of people surveyed agree that they'd feel more comfortable on a first date if they had exchanged texts beforehand. Keep pre-date communication light and fun. Ask about his or her favorite bands, movies, and places to hang out, then use the info to kickstart conversation when you're sitting across the table.

Do respond ASAP. Most people are never far from their cell phone, so if you don't reply within an hour or so, the other person will assume they're being ignored. As a matter of fact, the biggest texting turn-off according to the AT&T survey was a slow response. If you don't have time to answer, reply with something like "Stuck in mtg. Will hit you soon!" If you can't even do that, be sure to add "Sorry! Just got this," when you finally do text him or her back.

If you've got unlimited text messaging services, then sending your partner a quick text telling them how much you miss them is an excellent use of its features. But what if you know how you feel, but are struggling for the words to say?

I've compiled a list of some of my favorite I miss you text messages here, but there is always room for more. If you've used or received an i miss you text that you'd like to share, make sure to fill out this quick form.

I Miss You Text Message Idea #1: Use Quotes

Its a challenge to quote someone famous in 160 characters or less. That's why of these short yet sweet I miss you text message ideas harness the wisdom of years gone by so you can focus on your feelings, and not wrestle with how to put it into words.

  • "All days are nights to see till I see thee." - William Shakespeare
  • "If I had a single flower for every time I think about you, I could walk forever in my garden." - Claudia Ghandi
  • "Parting is all we know of heaven and all we need to know of hell." - Emily Dickinson
  • "What is the opposite of two? A lonely me, a lonely you." - Richard Wilbur
  • "The reason it hurts so much to separate is because our souls are connected." - Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook
  • "I think about you constantly, whether it's with my mind or my heart." - Albany Bach Reid

I Miss You Text Message Idea #2: Use Songs

It can be really difficult to be apart from your boyfriend or girlfriend, and sometimes we get overwhelmed with just how much we miss that person. Trying to put too much into a short few words won't convey what you need, so instead tap into a song that expresses how you feel. You could just quote the title or a line from the song, or you could purchase a ringtone for your partner to use, so that every time you call they'll know how much you miss them. Some songs that channel that longing feeling:

  • Come Home by One Republic
  • Ain't No Sunshine by Bill Withers
  • Come on Get Higher by Matt Nathanson
  • Far Away by Nickelback
  • SOS by ABBA
  • Nothing Compares To You by Sinead O'Connor

I Miss You Text Message Idea #3: Create A Theme

Sometimes all you need is a cue to get the creative juices going. Why not send one text message to start off a list that progresses throughout the time you are apart, beginning with, "How much do I miss you? Let me count the ways..." Then, use a number in front of each i miss you text message from now on in to show your partner you're still coming up with new reasons and ways you miss them, and make sure to be as specific as you can, such as:

  • 1 - I miss you reminding me to get to bed early;
  • 2 - I miss it when it rains and your hair goes all curly;
  • 3 - I miss how you scrunch up your nose when you laugh;
  • 4 - I miss how you smell when you get out of the bath.

The email claims the recipient's password had to be changed, and further claims the attachment to the email contains their new password. Unfortunately for victims, all the attachment really contains is a malicious trojan designed to bypass firewalls and install scareware onto victims' computers.

Cansado en la mañana???

Question: Tired in the Morning?

Is there a tea or some type of herbal spray or remedy that can energize people who have trouble waking and getting started in the morning?

Answer: Feeling tired in the morning can be due to difficulties with sleep or a medical condition, so the first step should be to consult your doctor to make sure that the problem isn't actually an underlying condition, such as depression, hypothyroidism, sleep apnea, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, anemia, or diabetes.

Any type of stress, whether it's work stress, everyday worries, or family difficulties can make it difficult to fall asleep and to stay asleep, which can leave you feeling tired and unrefreshed in the morning.
Diaphragmatic breathing is a simple technique that may help to reduce anxiety.

Meditation and regular yoga practice are other options. A professional counselor or therapist may be needed in certain situations.

Is your bedroom too dark when you wake up in the morning?

If so, it may be a reason why you feel sluggish. Light exposure plays a key role in telling the body when to go to sleep and when to wake up.

That's because the hormone melatonin, which helps with sleep, is produced in darkness. On the other hand, light—especially sunlight—causes the production of the neurotransmitter serotonin, which helps us wake up.

One way of increasing morning light is to open your drapes or blinds just before going to bed so that the morning light fills your room (doing it after you wake up doesn't work as well).

If you regularly drink coffee or caffeinated sodas, consider cutting back. Although many people rely on coffee for energy, consuming too much caffeine creates a vicious cycle, a dependency on caffeine, and can drain energy.

You don't have to cut out caffeine entirely. Green tea is a great alternative, because it contains less caffeine—about 8 to 30 mg per cup compared to 100 to 350 mg per cup of coffee.

Green tea also contains the amino acid L-theanine which has been found in preliminary studies to enhance learning ability, induce relaxation and relieve emotional stress, possibly through its effects on serotonin, dopamine and other neurotransmitters.

Regular black tea or flavored black teas, such as chai (an Indian spiced tea), are other options to consider.

Certain plant oils have aromas are believed to help boost energy. These oils, called essential oils, are used in aromatherapy.

Here is information on how to make an energizing essential oil blend.

You can simply put a couple drops in a handkerchief or tissue and inhale the aroma, use a diffuser in the bedroom, or add a drop or two in the shower to allow the steam to vaporize the essential oils.

Just be sure to read these tips on using essential oils safely.
